Discussion on the Twelve Powers: Strength and Wisdom

FOR MARCH AND APRIL:  MEDITATION ON STRENGTH AND WISDOM

? How does this affect you ?

Sometimes we are prompted to ask, "Where will I find the strength?"

That one word, by itself, may become our solitary prayer, "Strength."  God knows.  There may be things we ought to, need to, even want to do, but we are tired.  We may be pushed to our limits, yet the demands of our lives continue.  Circumstances shift--as they have for many in recent times--and we may find ourselves echoing the words, "What strength do I have, that I should still hope?  What prospects, that I should be patient?"  Job 6:11.

Thankfully, our innate power of wisdom helps us to recognize the strengths we have demonstrated in meeting past challenges; these strengths are part of our character.  Alternately, we may need our strength to seek out the wisdom in trying situations.  This is how we grow.  We exercise our muscles, we exercise our minds, we exercise our spirits, and we grow.

We have been given our instructions, "Come to Me," says the source of all our good.  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11.

It is the wise person who knows his own strength.
